Maxdaemon

Maxdaemon is a file-based web application server framework. It comprises a fast, lightweighted HTTP(S) daemon with three kinds of CGI interfaces, a runtime system, a web surface to manage content, design and applications as well as a development, test and integration environment. It includes a RPM repository to build the Maxscape platform.

The Maxdaemon HTTP server is written in Perl. Actually, there are two independant servers provided. One is integrated in the Maxscape library and the other is the Maxdaemon HTTPD which is an offspring of the first that has been developed over the time. The integrated HTTPD is only used as a run-time control deamon. The second can be used as Maxscape's website HTTPD. In this mode Maxscape runs as an application of the Maxdaemon server.

The features of the integrated HTTP daemon are sufficient for the control daemon and the HTTP server development has moved to the Maxdaemon project, so its development is no longer followed.

Maxdaemon can be used independently, thought it is developed to work for the Maxscape requirements. The idea is to have a system, that is solely written in Perl. This allows to integrate the Maxscape library directly in the HTTP server via Maxdaemon's DCGI interface and to define application callbacks within the HTTP server's content generation loop. For development purposes, it has an extented debuging mode to follow the generation flow.
